Funding Applications for 2026-27 will open soon



Through our fantastic partner Taighde Éireann - Research Ireland you can apply for a range of funding packages for FIRST® LEGO® League.


Applications are vetted and assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Who can apply

Schools, colleges, home school groups, uniformed or youth groups based in the Republic of Ireland.

What can you apply for

  • You can apply for support across all FIRST LEGO League divisions: Explore (Second Class to Sixth Class), Challenge (Sixth Class to Transition Year), Future Edition Ages 5-7, and Future Edition Ages 8-16

Assessment criteria

Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, across a combination of criteria. All of these factors will be considered but you do not need to fulfil each one to be eligible:

  • Areas of low social mobility
  • Levels of free school meals, SEN, EAL and DEIS status
  • The profile of the young people you will engage in the programme
  • Desired impact on young people and your school/organisation/community

What is expected from you

If successful in receiving a funding grant, you will be expected to fulfil the following obligations:

  • Complete a grant agreement letter, registration and media consent form
  • Attend an in-person or online training session
  • Provide feedback throughout the duration of the programme
  • Deliver an in-house event (Class Packs)
  • Attend a designated event (Challenge Tournament Registration)

  • Funding Phase 2 – to be announced
  • Funding Phase 3 – to be announced
  • Please allow up to five weeks from the closing date for a decision.
